Las Vegas, NV, January 4, 2019 – Like never before, the poker climate is primed to embrace women in poker. Women’s Poker Association (WPA) felt it was the perfect time to create an additional way to recognize the achievements of women players for 2019.
Women’s Poker Association is not a poker tour. It is an all-volunteer organization in the business of elevating the poker experience for women. In keeping with this mission, WPA created a WPA Player of the Year Program. Many poker operators already support women with hosting women’s poker tournaments. The WPA POY program takes the results from these women’s events and places the cashers on our leaderboard.
“The response has been extremely positive from poker rooms around the country. The good news is this is a global campaign, so ladies’ events abroad can participate as well.” shared Lupe Soto, WPA President. “Venues simply register their event with WPA and we’ll promote it, feature the winner, and keep track of the point system.”
Many properties are on board to participate. Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood, Borgata Casino, Bicycle Casino, Green Valley Ranch Casino, Hollywood Park Casino, Orleans Casino, Horseshoe Tunica, bestbet Casino, Canterbury Park Casino, Hollywood Casino Columbus, Choctaw Casino and so many more!
The WPA Player of the Year winner receives a title, trophy and prizes. Top ten finishers are invited to a WPA Player of the Year Freeroll in Spring 2020.
Membership in the WPA is a voice for women poker players. After a year of amazing support from women across the globe, the WPA is now offering FREE membership. Registration information is available at www.wpa.poker.
Women’s Poker Association (WPA) – is a global membership-based, all-volunteer, professional organization formed to promote, develop, and professionalize the advancement of women in poker by heightening the exposure of current women poker players while encouraging and developing new women players.
WPA actively advocates for women in poker. We bridge the gap between players and the industry by initiating conversations and avenues to elevate the experience of poker.
We seek opportunities to empower women thru conferences, workshops, training, networking and social events with a focus on community, education and skill development.
