Ruth Hall “Ruthless” has officially claimed the 2025 Women’s Poker Association Player of the Year title with 960 points. This is her second POY win, her first coming in 2019, the inaugural year of the WPA POY program.

A previous WPA Board Member and longtime advocate for women in poker, Ruth celebrates women’s final tables with WPA trophies and gift bags at events while creating meaningful opportunities for players in her local poker community. She is also known for her lucky poker jacket—think NASCAR style, covered in patches and logos from her favorite women’s poker groups, organizations, and achievements. If you see her at your table wearing it, be ready, because she is!

In Ruth’s own words: “It was the hardest year of my life losing Hubby and fighting heart failure. I want to thank my two daughters and all of my girlfriends who helped me keep going. This award is for all of the women who never give up!”

Ruth will receive the official WPA Player of the Year ring along with her title, congratulations!

Rounding out the Top 5 in 2025:

  • 3rd Place: Ayaka Muraishi (California) – 561 points

  • 4th Place: Tracy Rasinski (Arizona) – 480 points

  • 5th Place: Chris Read (Arizona) – 470 points

A huge thank you to the POY Committee, Bridgette Adkins, Lynne Mitchnick, and Suzanne Malavet, for managing results, and to Maureen Bloechlinger, owner of the Women’s Poker Calendar, for tracking events all year. Special thanks to Rene Summers for creating and maintaining the POY backend system.

Congrats to Ruth and all the women who competed in 2025. Bring it on, 2026!
